Welcome to Divine Destiny Online!
*New message from Game Master
Welcome to Divine Destiny Online. In this game your avatar will be created for you via the face scanner and body calibration tests you had to do when setting up your Gamepod. This should allow for a more exciting and straight forward show where no one can hide behind a false identity. You're class and rank have been determined for you based on your results from the required tutorial test you were required to complete during setup. You are Shankz: Two handed swordsman and a peasant. Pitiful as dirt. Your odds of conquering DDO 1/99982914895813289595. In other words, you will surely fail. I will see you in the Colosseum for the opening ceremony. Best of luck
-GM
I'm a peasant class player! A peasant? Doomed to failure? No way not me. I will win! You'll see.
After receiving the message from the Game Master I spawned in the Colosseum along with the other 10.3 million players in DDO. Everyone seems to have a confused look on their face and many are looking for their friends and loved ones. No one has weapons, armor, or anything to suggest we are in the game. The only thing I can make out is each player's health bar and alias. Oh well, no use in worrying about that right now. I need to find my friends.
After several minutes of searching around the insanely large stadium I managed to find my friends. Their friend icon just barely visible from a distance.
Sargon: "Shankz! Over here!"
T-Man: "Yea, we're here too!"
I rush over to where I heard my friends shouting to find that I was the last to arrive. I join the group and begin to take part in the conversations
Sargon: "It's a good thing we all added each other as friends during the tutorial."
Shankz: "Good point. Considering how large and populated this area is, that could have taken hours to find each other."
Yuki: "Yea Sargon that was a brilliant idea"
Sargon: "Thanks."
Shankz: "Alright guys why don't we go over everyone's class and rank so we get an idea of strengths and weaknesses?"
Everyone approves of this idea and we all began to share our info with each other.
T-Man: Commoner, Hammer User
IP Ninja: Commoner, Martial Arts
FallenMoon: Commoner, Spear User
Sargon: Commoner, Mage
Yuki: Commoner, Speedster
Mightypie: Noble, Martial Arts
Shankz: Peasant, 2-Handed sword
Mightypie: "Holy shit dude you got peasant class. That's hilarious. You must have really sucked during the test. Good thing you have the rest of us around"
*Everyone shares a laugh
Shankz: "Shut up dude. I'll still be able to wipe the floor with all of you anytime I want."
Mightypie: "Dude I got noble class, which obviously ranks me higher than everyone else here. Face it, for once I beat you"
Shankz: "Is that so?"
Sargon: "My money is still on Shankz"
Mightypie: "Shut up Sargon!"
Shankz: "Fine Mightypie, let's race to see who can defeat the final boss first"
Mightypie: "You're on dude. But this time I won't lose to you. I'm not gonna let my advantage of being a noble go to waste. I am going to work hard and train all the time. I will rise to the top and destroy all who stand in my way and..."
The earth beneath us begins to shake and the sky turns red. A howling wind begins to blow. This sends several players into a frenzied panic wondering what is going on. Suddenly a voice breaks through the chaos stopping everyone in their tracks and silencing them immediately
Ominous Voice: "Attention players the Game Master is about to grace you with his presence. Please greet him with your undivided attention and pay very close attention to his every word. So without further ado please give a warm welcome to the Game Master!
Game Master: "Welcome players to the one and only Divine Destiny Online! I have created this world as a stepping stone toward realizing my dreams as I hope it does the same for all of you. You will travel the vast regions of DDO defeating bosses, exploring dungeons, completing quests, honing your skills as a warrior, and creating a life you previously thought impossible. Truly this place is a utopia of untapped potential. Experience it as you see fit."
*Everyone cheers as the Game Master shows images DDO's vast world
Game Master: "Moving on. As you all have been made aware, there are class and rank systems that I have set in place determined by how you performed in the tutorial. Allow me to explain those to you now.
- There are 7 ranks that one can earn in this game: Peasant, Commoner, High Commoner, Nobles, Royals, Elites, and GODS. The higher you raise your rank, the stronger you become. And as you continue to harness your power you will witness your growth and potential explode with new skills and abilities that will shape your destiny. Through hard work and perseverance you all could climb the ranks and reach elite status! However, only a select few of you have what it takes to achieve the level of the GODS. Whether or not that is you depends on how hard you're willing to work.
- There are also 7 different classes of warrior that each of you fall into. Each class possesses different skills and stats the others do not: 1 Two-handed swordsman: Close Combat type wielding heavy swords dealing massive damage. 2 One-handed swordsman: Close Combat type wielding light swords allowing for quicker attacks. 3 Hammer Wielders: Close Combat type wielding extremely heavy hammers, very slow, deliver most colossal damage. 4 Martial Artists: Close Combat type that carry small customized versatile weapons, many are bare-knuckle brawlers that are very fast and deal heavy damage, poor defensive skill against weapons. 5 Combat Mage: skilled in both close combat and long range assault, poor attacking skills, defensive geniuses. 6 Spear users: Long Range type, can carry a variety of sneaky weapons on them, dealing intermediate damage, very cautious. 7 Speed Steppers a.k.a. runners or speedsters: Mostly non combative, quick as lightning, carry multiple light weapons such as throwing knives and spiked batons, dealing very pitiful amounts of damage. However, do not write off the runners in battle. With their speed they can easily get a dozen attacks in before you can bat an eyelash.
Game Master: "Now with that said, it is possible to possess skills in more than one class. How so? Well, as you progress through the game meeting and competing against warriors of a different class, you may be able to unlock the potential skill 'second class' which will allow you to obtain another class's skills and abilities.
*The crowd erupts in cheers of excitement
Game Master: "Silence please."
*Everyone quiets down as the game master continues his speech
Game Master: "As you all may have noticed by now, you are not yet equipped for your journey. This is not by mistake. I will return in one hour to grant you this equipment as well as a reveal a very special and very important announcement. Until then feel free to mingle and enjoy the feast I have prepared for you. Oh and one more thing, I strongly encourage anyone not physically or mentally fit to fight for your very existence to log out now. This game is not for the weak. Anyone who chooses to log out now is more than welcome to. You will be set free. However, you will never be welcomed back inside DDO again. Those who choose to remain, I will see you in one hour. Good luck! May your Destiny be grand!"
As the Game Master left, confusion spread throughout the Colosseum over his final words to the players. What could this mean? Why would he say that? What is DDO?...
