Divine Destiny Online Chapter 2 A Battle For Supremacy

After the Game Master left many people began to fear his lasting message and one by one began to log out. Others found it hilarious and scoffed at it saying it was just a stupid ploy to get rid of "casuals" and "noobs". The rest of us? We didn't care, we just wanted to play the game and really experience DDO. The next hour just seemed to drag by. More than 3 million players have logged of since the Game Master delivered his speech. The 7 million that remained? We sat in preparation for the Game Master's return. Many forming teams and creating guilds. Others like ourselves just sitting around talking.

Shankz: "Well it's been an hour."
Mightypie: "Where is he? I'm sick of waiting. I wanna get going on my journey so I can crush you!"

*The rest of the group looks at Mightypie and laughs hysterically

Mightypie: Fuck you guys! I got the highest rank out of anyone here. That means I did the best in the tutorial.
Sargon: "Mightypie, the rest of us just messed around on the tutorial. We took our time."
Mightypie: "Yeah right! You expect me to believe that! Face it I'm the best player here."
Yuki: "He's telling the truth."
Shankz: "Well you know how the mission was to defeat a large horde in the fastest time possible within two hours right?"
Mightypie: "Yea, so what?"
Sargon: "So we decided not to target the horde immediately
Mightypie: "What! Are you shitting me? Why the hell not?"
Yuki: "We decided to explore the map first."
Shankz: "We wanted to get a feel for our in game skills and abilities before jumping into battle."

  *Everyone nods in agreement

Shankz: "To be honest I never even finished that mission."
Everyone: "You never completed the tutorial mission?!"
Shankz: "Nope. I ran out of time."
Tman: "Dude you had two hours to defeat like 150 low level enemies. How didn't you complete it?"
IP Ninja: "Dude it took like 35 minutes tops. How could you fuck that up?"
Shankz: "Well I wandered too far out and got lost."
FallenMoon: "They gave you an area map so you wouldn't get lost. It was literally the only item in your inventory"
Shankz: "Oh yeah I remember that thing! I folded it into a paper hat and wore it around.

*Everyone takes turns either face palming or shaking their heads in disbelief over what they had just heard.

Shankz: "Besides I got hungry, so I said fuck the mission and got lunch instead."
IP Ninja: "Okay now THAT makes sense"

IP Ninja begins to laugh. Everyone including myself joins. After a moment, Mightypie cuts in with a realization.

Mightypie: "Wait a minute. So my rank is only higher because I defeated the monsters faster than you guys? FUCK!"

*Everyone erupts into laughter once more

At that moment a surging light shot down from the sky signaling the Game Master's return to the Colosseum. He pulls out what looks like a tablet and begins to read through it. Whatever it is, it seems to amuse him greatly as he lets out a slight chuckle. It is at this time that he looks out at the crowd and says...

Game Master: "I see that out of the 10.3 million of you that started your journey inside DDO, there are only about 7 million of you left. Let me be the first to offer congratulations for making it this far. As a reward your gear and weapons!"

Each player receives their starter kit full of gear and weapons and begins equipping themselves. A great roar of excitement builds in the crowds as players take in their new found power. After a moment the crowd is hushed as the Game Master continues his deliverance.

Game Master: "Now my warriors let us test your strength in battle. I have randomly paired you all up for 1 on 1 fights to the death. The winner of each fight will receive a special prize, and the losers penalized. Begin!"

Millions of small platforms begin to form in the sky and two by two players are warped to each to begin their battle. Everyone just looks on in complete awe. We all loosely huddle together and begin to look at each other in uncertainty. Suddenly everyone began to fade and one by one we disappeared as we were taken to our battlegrounds. As I land I begin to assess my surroundings. We were definitely fighting in the sky, our platforms only floating pieces of earth about 30 yards long by 20 yards wide. I take a moment to take in the scenery

Opponent: "Don't take me lightly asshole!"

I can hear my opponent charging me from the rear, trying to catch me off guard. I draw my sword sword and spin to face my opponent. At this moment, my opponent lunges and throws a heavy punch my way. he is wearing some sort of metallic gauntlets. I deflect the attack with the broad side of my sword sending him flying to the edge of the platform.

Shankz: You're gonna have to be quicker than that if you want to beat me! You... Wait, you're my opponent! This is perfect. Don't you agree, Mightypie?"
Mightypie: "Shankz?! Holy shit dude. I didn't know I was fighting you.
*We both grin and laugh hysterically
Mightypie: "Now I'll prove I'm better than you."
Shankz: "Talk is cheap. Just shut up and FIGHT ME!"
Mightypie: "FINE!"

We both charge at each other with the intent to kill, screaming with the fierceness of a thousand warriors. Mightypie throws several offensive punches my way causing me to take the defensive. After a few moments of deflecting punch after punch with my sword, I seize an opportunity to take the offensive after Mightypie over-extends on a punch. I swing my heavy sword through the air, slicing in every direction. Mightypie manages to dodge each attack I throw at him with ease. My sword too heavy to match his speed. Finally I manage to catch him tripping up from one of my initial attacks. I quickly follow up with a secondary attack that is sure to hit the target as he lay there on the ground. Almost as instantly as I was certain I had won the match, Mightypie throws up a fist catching my sword with his metallic gauntlet.

Mightypie: "You're gonna have to be quicker than that to beat me."

Suddenly he jumps to his feet and charges at me, my sword still buried between his reinforced knuckles. He throws his fist to the air dispelling my earlier attack, thus throwing me off balance and open for an attack. Mightypie then launches a straight punch to my forehead that launches me through the air toward the edge of our stage. I can feel my blood run down my face, the pain excruciating. Mightypie charges forward, jumping on top of me, and unleashes a flurry of attacks. I do everything I can to block the assault. Through his attacks I managed to create another opening and land a swift blow to his gut with the hilt of my sword. This causes Mightypie to stagger back a bit and I manage to kick him off and regain some ground. Mightypie falls to the ground, gasping for the air that was just so viciously knocked out of him. He coughs up a mouthful of blood and begins to breathe normally again. We are both showing signs of exhaustion by this point. We can see the pain in each other's faces and feel the determination in our blood. Neither one of us willing to quit.

Shankz: "You know... I thought you were a deadly martial artist with a mean pair of fists, not some preteen girl taking part in her first pillow fight?"
Mightypie: "Yea?... Well I thought you were some incredible swordsman capable of carving people into mince meat? You look more like a blind drunk swinging for a pinata!"

   *We share a slight chuckle

We charge at each other once more. I take a swing at him with my blade. Once again he deflects the shot and swings back at me with an elbow. I am able to duck away from the attack but he returns heavily with a swift combo. I manage to deflect each blow but not before being pressed to the edge of the platform. Then out of nowhere, Mightypie lands a colossal blow to the ground right in front of me causing the earth below my feet to crumble  and become unstable. I begin to lose balance and start to fall from the platform. At the last second I thrust my sword downward, digging it into the now loose dirt in front of me stopping my fall. I then use my momentum to swing my body around my sword back toward the middle of the platform. This action catches Mightypie off guard and in the spur of the moment I uproot my sword and tackle Mightypie off the edge of our platform and we begin to fall back to earth. If we hit the Colosseum, or even another platform from this height we will both surely die. This however, does not stop our battle as we plummet downward.

Divine Destiny Online Chapter 1 Welcome to the Game

Hi my name is Shankz Boss. The following story is a tale inspired from my imagination, Sword Art Online, and RPG's I have enjoyed throughout time. The story will follow my point of view most of the time but with change to other's POV from time to time.

Divine Destiny Online. The most anticipated game to hit shelves ever. Not much is known about the game.

-From the tv in the next room
News Anchor: "We anxiously await the world launch of the most anticipated game of our generation, Divine Destiny Online! Just 15 minutes to go. You can feel the excitement in the air."

-In a group call online
Sargon: "Dude I'm so ready to play this game!"
Mightypie: "Same here. I'm gonna tear this game up!"
Shankz: "Guys we don't even know if the game is any good. The tutorial was fun but that was a very skin and bones look"
Yuki: I agree with Shankz. We don't know much about the actual game and its layout."
Mightypie: "So! with this much hype it's gotta be awesome!"
Shankz: "Hopefully. Does everyone have the game ready to go?"
All three: "Yea!"
Shankz: "Cool. I'm gonna go get ready. see you guys in the game."
Sargon: "Yea same here later Shankz. Later guys"
Yuki: "Bye."
Mightypie: "see ya."

Well better text the others and see if they're ready. This is gonna be great! Only 5 minutes to go.
Shankz: 'You guys ready?'
-Sent in a group text message
T-Man: 'Yea man plugging in now'
IP Ninja: 'Fuck yea gonna tear shit up!!!'
FallenMoon: 'Yea man ready to go'

Alright time to plug in. 3. 2. 1. GAME START!

Welcome to Divine Destiny Online!

*New message from Game Master
Welcome to Divine Destiny Online. In this game your avatar will be created for you via the face scanner and body calibration tests you had to do when setting up your Gamepod. This should allow for a more exciting and straight forward show where no one can hide behind a false identity. You're class and rank have been determined for you based on your results from the required tutorial test you were required to complete during setup. You are Shankz: Two handed swordsman and a peasant. Pitiful as dirt. Your odds of conquering DDO 1/99982914895813289595. In other words, you will surely fail. I will see you in the Colosseum for the opening ceremony. Best of luck
                                                                  -GM

I'm a peasant class player! A peasant? Doomed to failure? No way not me. I will win! You'll see.

After receiving the message from the Game Master I spawned in the Colosseum along with the other 10.3 million players in DDO. Everyone seems to have a confused look on their face and many are looking for their friends and loved ones. No one has weapons, armor, or anything to suggest we are in the game. The only thing I can make out is each player's health bar and alias. Oh well, no use in worrying about that right now. I need to find my friends.

After several minutes of searching around the insanely large stadium I managed to find my friends. Their friend icon just barely visible from a distance.

Sargon: "Shankz! Over here!"
T-Man: "Yea, we're here too!"

I rush over to where I heard my friends shouting to find that I was the last to arrive. I join the group and begin to take part in the conversations

Sargon: "It's a good thing we all added each other as friends during the tutorial."
Shankz: "Good point. Considering how large and populated this area is, that could have taken hours to find each other."
Yuki: "Yea Sargon that was a brilliant idea"
Sargon: "Thanks."
Shankz: "Alright guys why don't we go over everyone's class and rank so we get an idea of strengths and weaknesses?"

Everyone approves of this idea and we all began to share our info with each other.

T-Man: Commoner, Hammer User
IP Ninja: Commoner, Martial Arts
FallenMoon: Commoner, Spear User
Sargon: Commoner, Mage
Yuki: Commoner, Speedster
Mightypie: Noble, Martial Arts
Shankz: Peasant, 2-Handed sword

Mightypie: "Holy shit dude you got peasant class. That's hilarious. You must have really sucked during the test. Good thing you have the rest of us around"
   *Everyone shares a laugh
Shankz: "Shut up dude. I'll still be able to wipe the floor with all of you anytime I want."
Mightypie: "Dude I got noble class, which obviously ranks me higher than everyone else here. Face it, for once I beat you"
Shankz: "Is that so?"
Sargon: "My money is still on Shankz"
Mightypie: "Shut up Sargon!"
Shankz: "Fine Mightypie, let's race to see who can defeat the final boss first"
Mightypie: "You're on dude. But this time I won't lose to you. I'm not gonna let my advantage of being a noble go to waste. I am going to work hard and train all the time. I will rise to the top and destroy all who stand in my way and..."

The earth beneath us begins to shake and the sky turns red. A howling wind begins to blow. This sends several players into a frenzied panic wondering what is going on. Suddenly a voice breaks through the chaos stopping everyone in their tracks and silencing them immediately

Ominous Voice: "Attention players the Game Master is about to grace you with his presence. Please greet him with your undivided attention and pay very close attention to his every word. So without further ado please give a warm welcome to the Game Master!

Game Master: "Welcome players to the one and only Divine Destiny Online! I have created this world as a stepping stone toward realizing my dreams as I hope it does the same for all of you. You will travel the vast regions of DDO defeating bosses, exploring dungeons, completing quests, honing your skills as a warrior, and creating a life you previously thought impossible. Truly this place is a utopia of untapped potential. Experience it as you see fit."
*Everyone cheers as the Game Master shows images DDO's  vast world
Game Master: "Moving on. As you all have been made aware, there are class and rank systems that I have set in place determined by how you performed in the tutorial. Allow me to explain those to you now.

  • There are 7 ranks that one can earn in this game: Peasant, Commoner, High Commoner, Nobles, Royals, Elites, and GODS. The higher you raise your rank, the stronger you become. And as you continue to harness your power you will witness your growth and potential explode with new skills and abilities that will shape your destiny. Through hard work and perseverance you all could climb the ranks and reach elite status! However, only a select few of you have what it takes to achieve the level of the GODS. Whether or not that is you depends on how hard you're willing to work.

  • There are also 7 different classes of warrior that each of you fall into. Each class possesses different skills and stats the others do not: 1 Two-handed swordsman: Close Combat type wielding heavy swords dealing massive damage. 2 One-handed swordsman: Close Combat type wielding light swords allowing for quicker attacks. 3 Hammer Wielders: Close Combat type wielding extremely heavy hammers, very slow, deliver most colossal damage. 4 Martial Artists: Close Combat type that carry small customized versatile weapons, many are bare-knuckle brawlers that are very fast and deal heavy damage, poor defensive skill against weapons. 5 Combat Mage:  skilled in both close combat and long range assault, poor attacking skills, defensive geniuses. 6 Spear users: Long Range type, can carry a variety of sneaky weapons on them, dealing intermediate damage, very cautious. 7 Speed Steppers a.k.a. runners or speedsters: Mostly non combative, quick as lightning, carry multiple light weapons such as throwing knives and spiked batons, dealing very pitiful amounts of damage. However, do not write off the runners in battle. With their speed they can easily get a dozen attacks in before you can bat an eyelash.

Game Master: "Now with that said, it is possible to possess skills in more than one class. How so? Well, as you progress through the game meeting and competing against warriors of a different class, you may be able to unlock the potential skill 'second class' which will allow you to obtain another class's skills and abilities.

*The crowd erupts in cheers of excitement

Game Master: "Silence please."
*Everyone quiets down as the game master continues his speech
Game Master: "As you all may have noticed by now, you are not yet equipped for your journey. This is not by mistake. I will return in one hour to grant you this equipment as well as a reveal a very special and very important announcement. Until then feel free to mingle and enjoy the feast I have prepared for you. Oh and one more thing, I strongly encourage anyone not physically or mentally fit to fight for your very existence to log out now. This game is not for the weak. Anyone who chooses to log out now is more than welcome to. You will be set free. However, you will never be welcomed back inside DDO again. Those who choose to remain, I will see you in one hour. Good luck! May your Destiny be grand!"

As the Game Master left, confusion spread throughout the Colosseum over his final words to the players. What could this mean? Why would he say that? What is DDO?...
